this has been in my drafts since forever lolololololol
Btw, I know nothing about the source material nor watched any of the adaptations before this jdrama version. Soooooooo yeah.
I loved the premiere! The way it was executed was weird for me at first, but I came to appreciate it halfway through. Most shows I've watched kind of just explains everything to you (y'know, with the MC narrating almost everything with their monologue), so I feel like I didn't really have to look out for things or pay too much attention and still get what's going on.
This jdrama though, used the "show, don't tell" method, and i think like half hour into ep1, I was still a big question mark. (lol) Nevermind that they're not explaining to you straight what's going on, Mihane (Kuroshima Yuina) also jumps here and there in time, and has dreams/nightmares in between, so the timeline kind of gets confusing, and I felt like I reaaaally had to pay attention. (lol) But it worked for me, and I found it really interesting. :Db
I found the way Shouhei (Kikuchi Fuma) started falling in love with Mihane really cute. THE WAY HE LOOKS AT HER???

Ugh my heart. ♥
But yeah... I feel "hmm?" about the whole thing as well, since Shouhei manipulates her memories of him. So for me, Mihane and Shouhei's love for each other didn't feel like it was on the same level (Shouhei loves Mihane more). When it got to the part where Mihane found out that he's from the future and had to convince him to go back while hesitating so much about it, I was like, "whoa whoa whoaaa, where did all these feelings suddenly come from?" (lol) During the scene when they had to part, I thought it didn't really make sense for Shouhei to be crying along with Mihane, cause at that point in time, Shouhei had no memory of Mihane. Unless... I dunno, empathy? Some people cry when they see other people cry. (hahaha) And then after Mihane shoos him away, he upped and left with his stuff, but then came back a few seconds later to talk to her about the photobook he brought from the future... The pacing... Oh the pacing...
I was thinking since it's only 5 episodes, they could do this well... but then... sigh. ^^;
I thinkkk, it's cause they put in a bunch of subplots so there wasn't enough time to focus on the main couple... But I thought the subplots were fine actually! I quite enjoyed Goro's (Takeuchi Ryoma) subplot personally cause I was able to emphatize regarding his motivations to do something (joining the boat club not cause of a genuine love for the sport, but to be close to Mihane), and his struggle to go against his parents about becoming a doctor. I don't like the way it was resolved though, as I felt that the parents were kind of just pushing their opinion on him in the end, and Goro just accepted it without talking it out with them...
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I overall enjoyed the drama though. It's my top pick from the ones I decided to pick up last season (out of like 4 dramas XD). :Db
I'm still not done with "Koe Koi" and "Seisei Suruhodo, Aishiteru", but for the latter, I've decided to just drop it... :( Sorry, Tackey and Emi! Although it irks me that once again, I'm not finishing something I started (it's been happening so often lately! huhuhu), it's just not my kind of drama, and I no longer have the patience to sit through a drama I don't enjoy. Forgive meeeeeeee ;_____;
This is exactly why I decided not to pick up Cain to Abel 2016 this season. I was kind of excited that Yamada (more excited for him actually, since he apparently has been asking for one for a longgg time XD) finally got his first romance role, but then the plot came out and I was like oh... ohhhhhh-
